COASTALWATCH Bringing the surf to you
The Morning after the Night Before

Words and photos by Ben Horvath

After Thursday's four seasons in one day scenario Friday morning March 9 was completely the opposite. The rain was replaced by crisp autumn off shores, sunny skies and a straighter solid 5-6ft SE swell. The dawn patrol was the pick before the huge mid morning high tide.

Shark Island was pretty good all morning as were a bunch of beachies and shallow reefs right up and down the NSW coast. Problem was, after last night’s solid 6-8ft pulse every man and his dog was up early and on the hunt. Word got out that Kelly and Taj were ruling out at 6-8ft plus Middles at Cape Solander yesterday.

Taj was back for more on Friday, but this time at "Ours" as the swell was distinctly more SE than south. Marky Mathews was king out there on Friday, but Taj, Richie, Hippo Wheels, Jesse and co were also stand outs.

Here's a bunch of quick snaps taken on the southern side of Sydney on Friday morning March 9.
