It's overcast with some showers and it is still flat. It's only in the 0-1ft range on the more open beaches that pick up more of the S swell. The winds are light WSW, with strong SSW winds forecast for later in the morning. The tide is high early at 7.10am, dropping to a low at 1pm. Forget it early. Strong winds and rising swell forecast for the weekend. Ripple riding on the dropping tide on the Tweed Coast, D'bah, the far N end beachies and TOS before the SSW winds get up.
John Charlton spreads his time between the Gold & Sunshine Coasts. He’s been surfing this area for many a year and is totally in tune with all the different breaks and how the varying swell and wind patterns affect this wave plentiful region.
The NSW lifesaving patrol season ended on Sunday 28 April, however Salt Resort main beach is still patrolled by lifeguards 7 days a week. Byron Main Beach will be patrolled by lifeguards 7 days a week until 9 June, 2013.
Please do not take any risks during the off-season period. No Flags = No Swim! The majority of beach patrols will again commence on the first day of the September School Holidays.
